Have been bringing my car here for about six months-totally happy with the service. They always offer to show me the old parts that need replacing without me having to ask. They also tell me things that need to be done right away versus stuff that can wait and save me a bit of money. Chad, one of the mechanics, gave me a ride to the BART and he was super friendly and knowledgeable. He is also an art teacher and an urban farmer! Chris is always friendly and gets my car in very quickly.

I started bringing my Subaru here a few years ago after reading the great reviews, and I've been a loyal customer ever since, and have spent thousands of dollars there. I really feel treated well and have referred a lot of my friends there. The prices seem fair to me, the work is done promptly, and they are just really nice. I read another review where a young female said she felt she was treated poorly, and I though I'm sorry she felt that way, I've always felt great about how I've been treated by Chris and everyone there.

I gotta say, the experience could not have been better. I just dropped off the car and they called and told me the price, it was reasonable so i said go and the work was done the same day. The only thing wrong with having all these good reviews is that people set their expectations too high, but really, you wont find a better place in the area until they get too busy.

This place is awesome. Chris is the first car mechanic that I've ever been able to trust. He is really fair in his prices and is always willing to take the time to explain car stuff to you. Go to this place! You won't regret it!

My family has been going to Oceanworks for years, but never had a reason to go to Oceanworks Berkeley as all our cars are Hondas / Lexus etc. Finally had a reason as my GF needed her 60k service on her Hyundai. I am happy to say that Oceanworks Berkeley is as good as Oceanworks 1, and Chris is an awesome and honest mechanic. #1) He quoted me $550 for the job, and then the final price was $480. Are you kidding me. A mechanic charging less than the estimate. #2) During the entire diagnostic, he didn't find a single thing that was wrong with the vehicle or needing to be worked on. WHAT? A mechanic that can't find anything wrong with your car? Honesty, professionalism, classy, affordable, and a damn good job. I will be back.

I've got nothing but good things to say about my experience with Oceanworks Berkeley. Chris is friendly, honest, and quick too. The past two times I've taken my car in I've gotten it back the same day. I'm glad that I've finally found an honest mechanic that I can take my car to. In case you haven't heard, they don't grow on trees...

Ocean works did amazing work! Their work got my car back to Illinois safely. Chris the Manager was very helpful and very nice to me. Chris squeezed in additional work for me at the last minute before I had to drive back to Illinois. The pricing was well worth the service recieved! Thank you Ocean Works 2! :D

It's probably been said before but Chris and his team ROCK!!!!! It isn't often you can say that about a car mechanic! I started bringing my Jeep to Chris 4 years ago after I saw great reviews on the Berkeley Parents Network. Now I have a Ford and it needs 100k service. I was shocked, and I mean shocked at the difference in price Chris quoted me compared to the Ford dealership and even other places! He saved me so much money I can afford to have my brakes done too!! I won't bring my car to anyone else!

Chris they owner of Oceanworks Berkeley is extremely helpful. The guy is as straight as they come. You go in and feel like you are being talked to by a friend and by someone who is not there to screw you over. I have had quite a few bad experiences with mechanics but felt that everything that came out of Chris's mouth was the truth. I would highly suggest going to see Chris over at Oceanworks Berkeley.

Chris and CJ saved my life. I am sure of it. Not to mention my savings. OK Savings: the story speaks for itself. My tranmission seemed to have worn out-I had enough miles on the Ford Explorer to think so. The FORD Dealership wanted $1400 just to diagnose the problem, then about $3300 more for the transmission. I found Chris. He took one look (doesn't charge to take a look), changed the fluid and filter, and for about $80 I have a "new" transmission. Then a spark plug literally blew out of its screw socket from the engine-since the local Ford dealer had installed it, I took it back to them (Ford is open late at night)-Ford wanted $125 to diagnose the problem, told me it wasn't their fault (so they already knew what the problem was, grr), and said the repair required replacing the head on the engine for another ~$2500 and a week or so in the shop. I went to Chris. Chris took one look (still doesn't charge to look), said "Bring it in" and fixed it in half a day for about $180. The first time there Chris asked me if I'd noticed the truck feeling unsteady on the road. Well. I'd even scared myself the way the truck had felt out of control every time on curves at freeway speed, having to brake down to 45 and hold on for dear life. I guess the answer was yes. Chris showed me how mushy my shocks were, said I needed to replace the shocks, and do something about the suspension, which is barely so-so in my Ford Explorer. I arrogantly thought this was some kind of sales pitch, went and bought new tires and got an alignment at the recommendation of the tire guy instead. The alignment and the tire guys both asked me if I was aware how bad my shocks were. Hmmm. Went back to Chris for shocks. He said he'd been adding a specially located extra strut beneath these trucks to stop the swaying and potential loss of control. I bit the bullet and paid for the extra shock (or whatever they're called now). Well, it's a new truck. It's amazing. I am always in control on curves even at full freeway speeds. I realize now how easily I might have actually lost control of the truck, or gotten rear-ended while braking all of a sudden. hurting someone else too. Chris saved my life. No doubt about it. Now when he tells me I need something, I don't question it. I just do it. He told me I needed tires (But I had gotten new ones the year before-I wasn't sure about this, but I listened). Chris sent me(with my noisy, always unsure, slow to stop skiddy tires) to a very reputable dealer he had found and said to listen to their recommendations. The full set of tires was half the best price for the same tires anywhere else. The new tires are quiet, never skid, and bring me to a stop when I put on the brakes. I am so glad I listened to Chris. He saved my life, I am sure of it. Why go anywhere else? He is honest, won't do needless work, is smart and can figure out what's wrong, and his prices are more than fair. It's a small business, so keep your appointments, and bring your own ride if you don't want to hang out. Or, the bus runs half a block away on San Pablo.
